“This was one of the most fun and yummy afternoons I've spent in Budapest!”
"This was one of the most fun and yummy afternoons I've spent in Budapest! Cecilia is so lovely--generous, warm, a bright light of a human being--and we made such a delicious Hungarian meal together. She picked us up and took us straightaway to the organic market in the ruin pub. What a treat! Tasted all kinds of cheeses, sausages, jams, took lots of pictures because the place itself is so interesting...then off to cooking and an afternoon of laughter and eating. She really went out of her way to accommodate our diet restrictions and our desires too. Even entertained us with a quick slide show of Hungary's food history! Four hours of delight. I can't recommend this experience enough."

“Budapest in a meal”
"I am extremely lucky that I was able to attend the Easy Cooking Budapest class and highly recommend it to anyone. Cecilia is fun, knowledgeable, and a great teacher. She is able to take you on a culinary journey around Hungary including the history of such a great country. The day starts in the Great Market Hall buying fresh ingredients and tasting new culinary delights (everything from Mangalica salami, Hungarian Strudel, Turo Rudi, to Pogacsa). After the market a quick ride to the lush and green Buda side we settle into a modern apartment with a stunning view and wonderful kitchen. We are welcomed with a glass of Palinka, the traditional spirit of Hungary and put on the aprons and get ready to cook. In this class we started with Korozott, a simple dip/spread that starts a meal. While snacking on our appetizer we are served a selection of Hungarian wines (surprisingly refreshing and full bodied). Next we begin work on the Green Pea Soup (Borsoleves) and national dish Chicken Paprikas. Both dishes were so good that the day I arrived home I made them both in my own kitchen to rave reviews. Friends are still messaging me asking for the recipes."

“This was definitely one of the highlights of our week in Budapest”
"This was definitely one of the highlights of our week in Budapest -- spending a lovely long afternoon cooking, eating, drinking and chatting with Cecilia. Even if you're not much of a cook, you'll enjoy this activity. After meeting and sampling Hungarian specialties at the market, we got to work in the kitchen, but "work" isn't really the right word. It was so much fun! Cecilia is great, very easy to talk to, kind, open-minded and curious -- our conversations flowed freely, as did the local Hungarian wine and her uncle's homemade palinka! The recipes she showed us were easy to follow, and she made sure to check with us whether we could find the right ingredients (or good substitutes) at home. In short, my husband and I would highly recommend Easy Cooking Budapest to anyone, with one word of advice: go with an empty stomach! :-)"

Our Story

Cecilia

I am a food enthusiast born and raised in Hungary. Although my original studies (veterinary medicine) are far away from the food industry, culinary pleasures always had an important role in my and my family's life. Both of my grandmothers are from the countryside, but from opposite sides of the country, so I learnt different ways of cooking our traditional dishes very early on in my life. Cooking and talking about our traditions, culture are not a job for me, but a great way to spend my free time. Also loving travel and getting to know other cultures, an additional benefit of this course for me is meeting wonderful, open minded people from all around the world! So please join me on one of my cooking sessions!

Kata

I have been working in gastronomy for 15 years already. I was always interested in cooking, I  like to play with the flavors and to create new dishes. I was lucky enough to live in Greece and to discover other tastes and a different culinary arts as well. Last year I decided to take a Tourist Guide course in Budapest. Easy Cooking Budapest gave me the opportunity to combine all activities that I love. To show the culinary side of Budapest, and to tell the history, also of one of the most impressive buildings in Budapest, The Great Market Hall. It is a pleasure to be with people with similar interests, and to show them a little part of our great gastronomy. Join me on the Easy Cooking class!
